Join the Board!

Thanks for your interest in serving on the Slow Food Springfield Board!

Slow Food Springfield (SFS) is a U.S. local chapter of the international Slow Food movement. Slow Food chapters carry out the Slow Food mission on a local level and are therefore the grassroots expression of the movement. SFS engages the local community in supporting and promoting local, sustainable food and food traditions and advocating for good, clean and fair food for all people. We are a nonprofit organization with public and charitable purposes.

The Chapter Board is entrusted with the power to conduct the business of the Chapter, which includes events, communications, participation in national programs, fundraising, community outreach and recruitment of leaders and volunteers. Any person who wishes to serve on the Chapter Board must be an active, dues-paid member of Slow Food USA who resides in the Springfield area. Requirements for Board membership include attendance at monthly Board meetings, active engagement in Chapter activities, and promotion of membership. Per our current by-laws, Board member terms are two years.

Formed in January 2006, Slow Food Springfield seeks to improve the food system by preserving traditional ways of growing, preparing, and enjoying foods, and by promoting biodiversity of livestock and crops.  We provided opportunities to meet others interested in learning about the food system, supporting local producers, and sharing fun food events. We host events to educate the public about where our food comes from, who our local producers are, and to celebrate food events with friends new and old.

Please fill out the fields below submitting your application by 5 p.m. on March 31. New Board member selections will be made at the March board meeting.  New members will be elected and installed at the Annual Meeting in April.
